Epididymitis won't go away, what should I do?

In February, I got epididymitis with unpleasant, not severe pain and a pulling sensation. My left epididymis was swollen. It's now September, seven months have passed, and the swelling hasn't changed at all; it hasn't shrunk at all. I don't have any pain, but everything there is very sensitive, and I occasionally experience an unpleasant pulling sensation. I want my balls to be less sensitive… it always feels like I have severely saggy balls… I'd rather have them surgically removed. They say that if the swelling is still there after three months, it's probably chronic (15% of cases). My urologist said two months or so ago that everything was still normal and that it could take a while… I find it hard to believe, because the internet always only talks about a few months. Does anyone have any experience? The testicle looks normal on the outside, doesn't hurt, and isn't hot. But when you feel it, you always get a shock.
