Engine light on?

Hello everyone. I'd like to buy an Audi A4 B8 Avant 2.0TFSI. For €6,500 (excluding VAT), model year 1999

149,000 km. The owner writes the following: I am selling my Audi A4 B8 Avant with the 2.0 TFSI engine. The car is in good condition. At the end of 2020, a major service including brakes was performed at an Audi workshop for €1,600. The MOT and emission test from October 2020 were flawless. A few months ago, a new battery was installed for €330.

I want to sell the vehicle because it's been having trouble starting for a few weeks, and the engine light has been on. Strangely enough, when the light was off, the vehicle started fine again. The vehicle runs and drives as usual, in my opinion.

Can anyone tell me what the costs will be? So I can negotiate the price.

With best thanks in advance

Alexander

It’s hard to answer. As @windsbraut has already written, the price varies depending on the cause. You would have to read it and see what it would make for a mistake (if you can read something in the year of construction)

I had the problem with my BMW E90, for example, that he went to the emergency run during the ride and that the motor light began to shine. After a motor restart it went again without an error message.

I read it out and get it out of something wrong with the air mass meter. I removed it, air mass meter cleaned, error deleted and 50k Km has been quiet. Cost point 0€

Could also be a defective ignition coil or anything else. Can’t be said.

Someone who knows how to buy. Maybe he can know more and do something at the price.

Great success 👍🏼

6500€ for a 22-year-old car with a luminous motor lamp?

that I would not buy without the mistake at this price

apart from this, everything can be from lambda probe to cylinder head seal

the first would still be inexpensive the latter would be the Supergau……

that the owner wants to sell it because of the lamp says everything I think the knows exactly why the lights

In running performance, the price says “Let the dreamer dream.”
And that “the well-maintained car” despite 1,600.- “Service” now starts with trouble at the engine…

For your price presentation you will get an intact, well maintained car.
Look around.

Good luck.

You do not buy cars with already known problems before purchase.

Point.

Either he lets you get rid of the lack of purchase or you decide for another car. There’s an Audi like sand by the sea.

You don’t know if the story is true. Maybe he knows that this is going to be expensive, so he wants to get rid of the car quickly!?

No, you can’t say. There are so many causes that the MIL shines. And as many causes as there are, the costs of repair can also be different.

B8 year of construction 99? The B8 came to the market in 2007 and a TFSI engine was 99 guaranteed.
