A few questions about hamsters?

Hi!

Today we were recommended more animals (for various reasons that I won't say) and now I have some questions.

I plan to get a hamster then (first my mother has to persuade my father, which is why I'm asking without anything being set in stone).

I already know a lot about keeping hamsters properly, so all you have to do is answer these questions.

  1. Where can you get an enclosure of at least 1 square meter?
  2. Where can I order good accessories and food at once? Is Rodipet food any good?
  3. Which is better? Soil (close to nature) or bedding (boring stuff 😅/easy to handle). Do you have a good site?

And to all the haters out there: My mother has now realized it and from now on we will always go straight to the vet (I always had to persuade her before).

(I'm not in a great mood today, which is why I wrote this above. It should still be taken seriously.)

LG Amy

Hi.

1. In hamsters, aquariums/terraries are recommended in almost all cases so that there is room for a lot of litter, about 30cm+. An aquarium with a base area of 1m2 so for example 200x50cm is, however, very expensive. However, I have seen more often people use the Ikea Detolf, turned to the side. The dimensions of the base area are 163x43cm so in about 0.7m2 you can build a matching lid yourself from wooden frames and grids. This is also affordable and can really look pretty 🙂 (Emiology on YouTube had long used one for their mice, so you can look at how that looked) Whether this is really art-friendly with only a width of 43cm, I do not know, but I think it should be feasible.

Two. I would only order food online, as the food in zoo shops is crap. From which brand you will order at the end I would decide myself and just look around. You will also get good accessories in simple animal shops. As long as you know, you can’t do anything wrong there. So wheel made of wood, with webs for more hold, best 30cm.. So as long as you have an exact idea, you’ll surely find something. Otherwise look online.

3. As a litter, I’d stay at the usual litter, but you’d best take something like a hemp or a linen litter. This does not dust too much, so for you better tolerate when you get out and your hamster will certainly not hurt. At Earth there is always the risk that it begins to mold or similar.. You can make the cage look like natural with decoration. e.g. accessories from pasture, hay, wood, grasses, then something like piston hen (if compatible for hamsters), docked flowers etc. There’s plenty of room. The best inspiration will probably be Emiology.

I hope I could help.

So I’m using a litter. I just go to the store for food and read all through 😅. I’ll just take the best. ^^
I’d look for Chinchilla Gooses on the Internet, they’re bigger than Hamstergehege. I think very good
All good and great fun for you!

Greetings to you and the hamster!!

All you need to know and note is here:

https://hamsterrettung-nord.jimdofree.com/

How to get food only here. In the shop there is no kind of food to buy:

The hamster should not be bought in a zoo shop, but from a breeder, animal shelter, or a care center! Why do you find here:

Question 1:

Ebay classifieds, Kleintiervilla.de, build yourself, or buy a new aquarium in the minimum size or larger (price in the three-digit range).

Question 2:

The answer where you get good food can be found via the second link in my answer. Accessories are available everywhere. Shouldn’t be made of pine or plastic.

Question 3:

Normles litter at least 30 – 60cm high. Mixed with hay, so the tunnels have blew the hamsters, a better stop. Chinchillasand for the sand bath. Chipsi Mais is also suitable for budding in another corner.

On the page under art-friendly enclosure, you will find all these answers. There is even a list of what you need and where you get it.

To question 1 clearly used to look at Ebay classifieds, often owners want to get rid of their animals immediately, because they want to separate themselves completely, because you can save a lot of money. But hamsters are night-active, even our guinea pigs have often cost us sleep, you just have to know and consider, otherwise good luck finding.
