Squirrels do not keep winter sleep, they are active all year round.

If you have a place where squirrels are (viewed) or regularly appear, you can also photograph them there.

We live on the outskirts and even in our garden are regular 1-2 squirrels. We stabbed them, there’s always a basket with walnuts at the end of the garden, so we can see when the putty guys come to feed.

To get squirrels in front of the lens, you should go to a forest piece or even better into a park with beech or oak stocks. As squirrels are culture followers, you can also find them in cities.

Although squirrels keep winter sleep at strict temperatures, but as it is currently quite mild, they should now be active. You can best cure her as a photographer to the place where you want to nip her if you put nuts there. Of course, unsalted, such as hazelnuts or peanuts, which taste them particularly good. You probably don’t even have to wait a long time.

Good luck!

Winter sleep does not last when temperatures are below 10-15°- even during the day, they keep winter rest, but as soon as it gets warmer, they are back. With us, they have been every day, on the one hand, to reap the lush spruce pegs, on the other hand, to steal meisenknödel…

The most important thing is, if not done, whether there were “inhabiting” listeners at the planned location (in autumn, for example) who were seen there?

In city parks etc, they are probably more confident/better to photograph than in the forest…

If (see above), then also now (and it becomes even warmer…)

The squirrels come to the garden regularly in winter. You just have to spread nuts. Peanuts (yes, are actually Leguminosen) are very popular!

They are sometimes very active at cemeteries. I took pictures three weeks ago.

With us in front of the terrace, those are present several times each day and roam in the trees. However, we also live directly on the edge of the forest.

That could work.

In my town there is a cemetery where the squirrels are very often fed. They’re so little shy that you can’t save yourself when they discovered food.

There is also a park where they are fed with you.
