E-Mail, warum immer gleich schnell?

Warum ist eine Email genauso schnell in Afrika als bei meinem Nachbarn? Bei meinem Nachbarn hat sie doch einen viel kürzeren Weg durch das Glasfasernetz…

Who says the mail is sent to your neighbor via fiberglass?
There everything possible can appear on the line of transmission medium.

And since you cannot predict which route the mail takes from your computer to your mail provider to the recipient’s mail provider and then to its computer, an email to your neighbor can also be longer than an email to Africa. There is only a failure or enormous data accumulation on the shortest connection and the packages may be sent to a bloody long way around the globe.

Hello Brabolepp,

they are not as fast as possible. There are few milliseconds of subschoed.

Moreover, it does not have to say that the received server is actually in Africa. This could also be in the USA and users are using it.
