Dyscalculia (maths difficulties) which job?

I'm female, 39, and my job expires in December after 10 years. The license won't be renewed, so we, as franchisees, have to close the business.

In addition, I have a chronic illness (my entire body hurts, I have an autoimmune disease, and ADHD and autism don't make things any easier). I only recently learned about the immune disorder, and I've also been diagnosed with osteoporosis (which can only be confirmed next month).

I'm now faced with the dilemma of having absolutely no idea what to do with my career. I can no longer work in retail, so I'm considering retraining (I'm not considering giving in to my physical ailments).

I was thinking about IT because it's a job that's in demand worldwide, but I have a math disability.

I'm a very creative person (I'm "successful" on social media, but I keep deactivating my channels because too much attention doesn't appeal to me and makes me sick), but I also get bored quite easily. I was thinking about administration or something similar.

By the way, I "only" have an advanced secondary school diploma and have worked hard for all of my positions (I have been in a creative management position for 10 years).

I honestly just don't know what to do and am hoping for inspiration and advice/exchange here.

has already described some possibilities.

Therefore only a few more general notes:

Let an intermediate certificate be issued now if a final certificate expires.

Drin should include how satisfied they are with you, your current activities and also the position on which you work, if the job title does not show that you have a leadership position.

Moreover, the indication that you are likely to leave the company to date X due to the setting of the company, so it is clear that they do not want to get rid of you, but that there is no reason there.

This allows you to balance the main school degree and show what you have achieved.

Try to mention your illnesses as little as possible, because unfortunately many employers still see many problems and days of absence. If you want to call a few because of severe disability, you don’t have to say anything directly. You have better chances.

Otherwise you will only wish you all the best and much success.

It is understandable that you are in a challenging situation, especially with health burdens and uncertainty, as it should continue professionally. That you do not give up and actively search for solutions shows a lot of strength. Here are some thoughts and approaches that might help you decide:

### 1. **Occupational reorientation: IT & weaknesses**

The IT industry offers many different areas, of which not all mathematical skills are placed in the foreground. Examples of professions in IT that are less focused on mathematics:

– **Webdesign and Frontend Development:** Visual design and user-friendliness are the focus here. CSS and HTML also do not require a deep mathematical understanding.

– **Content Management Systems (CMS):** Working with systems such as WordPress, Joomla or similar platforms where the technical side is less focused.

– **UX/UI Design:**Create user interfaces and experiences, combining creativity with technical application.

### 2. **Creative occupations with less physical stress**

Since you mention that you are creative and have also been successful on social media, you might consider expanding these strengths further. Possible occupations:

– **Graphic design or illustration:** Creativity can be fully experienced here, and there are ways to work remotely.

– **Texter or content creator:** If you are writing, you could create content for blogs, websites or social media.

– **Virtual assistance with focus on creative tasks:** Many companies are looking for support in social media, content creation or graphic design. You could use your know-how here.

### 3. **Retraining and training**

Even if you have “only” an extended main school degree, retraining or further training can open you new doors. Some options that can be designed flexibly:

– **Mediengestaltung (digital and print):** Combines creativity with technical skills.

– **Project management in the creative field:** Here you can combine organizational talent with creativity without having to be strong in mathematics.

– **Online Marketing or Social Media Management:** Here you can further professionalize the knowledge you have already built up.

### 4.

If you were thinking about administration, there are many activities that require structure and organization, but not necessarily focusing mathematical skills. Examples:

– **Office communication or secretariat:** The focus is on organisation and communication.

– **Asssistance and coordination activities:**Maybe in the creative sector or for smaller agencies.

### 5. **Flexible work and health consideration**

In view of your health situation, jobs that are remotely possible or allow a flexible time sharing could be of advantage. Consider what environment you feel most comfortable – home office, hybrid models or jobs where you can largely determine when and how much you work.

### 6. **Consultation and support**

It could be worthwhile taking up a professional advice specialized in people with special challenges. This can help you find out where your strengths lie and how you can use them in a new field of work.

### Conclusion:

Your desire for a new career orientation is understandable and you bring many skills you can use in other areas. It’s important that you don’t stick to IT alone if you’re worried about your weakness. There are many creative professions that are less physically strenuous and where you can bring your talents well.

Perhaps the idea that in today’s working world there are many flexible and remote possibilities that can offer you both creative freedom and consideration for your health.
