What causes such massive piston damage on the tractor?
Hello, what could cause something like this? The piston was still running… It was just smoking white, probably because the coolant was burning. Also, the piston rings are leaking… When I removed the head, I could literally see the coolant draining away…
The damage occurred quite suddenly while driving… The tractor suddenly lost power and was running smoothly on only three cylinders instead of four. It sometimes rattled at high revs… The fourth cylinder would still fire up occasionally, but with white smoke.
How could this happen? Will the problem be resolved if I install new cylinder liners, a new piston, bolts, and a new cylinder head gasket?
These are actual milled grooves in the piston… How can I tell if my cylinder head has been damaged? The underside looks fine. So nothing else should be damaged, right?
I'm just a little worried that the same thing will happen after the repair…
What is this engine, manufacturer?
Looks like a foreign body had been sucked in, little mother or something. I would insert a new piston and bushing (correctly all are renewed), at the head the valves, if necessary. Grind in and let the nozzles check. Then the engine should run again.

All right. For all four, my money is not… But I can scrape you 200€ for one. Is it likely that the pleul or something?
If then the connecting rod bearing. You see that when the piston is being built. I almost thought it was a MWM engine. A lot of success in repair.
When the oil pan is away, the connecting rod bearings can be released and then pistons with connecting rods can be removed upwards.
Okay. Thank you very much. You don’t have to move the whole motor to the gleul bearing, do you? You’re going through the oil pan from below? It’s nice to have the whole crank shaft gone… This will be my first piston change… 😅
