drop d?
hey guys, I'd be happy about your answer^^
There are bands where the guitarists drop the D string, meaning they detune it and make it deeper, because it sounds cooler with distortion. My question is, does anyone know how they retune the string for the next person who doesn't need a drop D, for example? So how do they do it, haha.
thanks in advance!^^
As koofenix has already said, only the deep e-string is reduced by a full tone to D, that you can reconcile relatively quickly what you usually do all few songs anyway. Professionals have several guitars, the advantage is that the intonation can then be perfectly adjusted, which is not possible if you simply change a guitar.
The real advantage of Drop D is that you can play power accord with just one finger, which is of course an advantage for the harder genres. That means if you don’t. Press and play the empty strings, you still have the power chord.
The small part for tuning only works with Floyd Rose Tremolos and is called D-Tuna. Eddie Van Halen had his fingers in the game.
Dropped D means that the deep E string is tuned to D. There is such a device that takes care of it and also quickly returns. I think that means D-Dropper or something like that. But I haven’t dealt with it yet. Google knows something about it. If you don’t have it, stop manually after hearing or by tuning device on the guitar, in the rack or on the pedalboard.
