In addition to the other answers:
Fix one piece of cheap wood on the outlet side of the hole saw to avoid cracks at the break. There often chips break out because the material does not (more) force the necessary pressure. This can be a chipboard which covers the future hole on the back and is held close to the working area with screw clamps.

The decisive is the chip removal.

Especially if you can’t cut so close to the edge that the edge of the hole is broken and the chips exit laterally there, you’ll have to pull out and ideally suck off.

Even with this it becomes quite laborious, especially in hardwood.

You need a lot of torque and power, ideally a powerful, slowly running column drilling machine.

It could prove to be better to cut the holes with the stitch saw and then to work with a grinding drum from the inside. The latter will not be left out either.

Or stop milling, mounting the copy ring and crafting a milling circle.

Or put a few holes on the edge from the inside so that the chips can exit there.

With the endless drilling for this project, you have plenty of opportunity to find out the best technique experimentally.

A core drill as the electrical installers use it for sockets.

Hello,

I recommend you right hole saws from one piece.

Examples:

https://www.bosch-professional.com/ch/de/bim-progressor-lochsaegen-2868955-ocs-ac/

or

https://www.kelvinpowertools.com/bosch-114mm-multi-construction-holesaw-c-240-p-9544

it does not necessarily have to be from bosch..but you will find the shape and similarity in each construction market incl holder for drilling machine/accu screwdriver.

please do NOT buy these wabbel-billig-dinger where very many “hole saws” are in one..

What is also important: no fast speeds and chips have to be made out of the sawed profile..Put or knock out..sowith the saw does not glow you away..and wood remains wood and no charcoal.

The first is real “muff” and are not suitable at all for hard-wood…and thicker anyway….sorry.. these dinger should be banned….

but the 2nd link.they are better..

Of course, the halls around classes are better, there is no discussion.
