Domain, home office problem with data access via link?
Hey, you probably know, or at least some of you know, the trick of providing data access via links. Many don't, so here's a quick rundown:
Right-click and hold the file, drag it into your email, and send it to your colleague. When the colleague clicks on it, they'll be taken directly to the file.
However, we're part of a domain, and at some point I had to change something so it would continue to work in the office. Our domain is called dom.lac (I just called it that 😉 ).
So I went to Internet Options and added file://*.dom.lac under Security, Trusted Sites, and Sites. And lo and behold, it worked again.
However, when I'm working from home, I use a VPN. However, the respective drives are still displayed as part of the domain, for example, drive T as s01.dom.lac (S:). However, my "trick" no longer works here. So I have to expand the Trusted Sites list somehow.
Does anyone know what I might need to do here?
So if you are logged into the company network via VPN, your computer will receive the DNS suffix for your domain.
DH. any request for a host in your network refers to “Host.dom.lac”
So it changes in the grunde nix.
Does the recipient even have access permissions to the file? Of course, you must also specify who can access it.
Please describe the problem again.
Therefore, accesses exist for everyone on this file. So access is about me. Because if I’m in the office, I can access the file by setting file://*.dom.lac. In general, this was a kind of lucky hit, as our IT is a bit messed up and then I’m always following solutions. That was the solution for colleagues to access the files. However, if I sit in the VPN, this solution is no longer:( In the past, however, it has been noticed several times that the IT Fuzzi has deposited incorrect attitudes on various other topics and this leads to problems. Sometimes I had the impression that he then tacitly changed things so that it works again.. Ka where the toads come from:D
