Yes, there was an airfield in Karlsruhe. See https://goo.gl/maps/TQbcFB4Lc2pV2xta8 The area east of the S-Bahn station Karlsruhe – Kurt-Schumacher-Str.

More information can be found here: https://www.mil-airfields.de/germany/karlsruhe-flugplatz.html

Today there are only a few names of roads and Places on it, such as airport road, Ikarusplatz or Lilientalstr.

No! The nearest former military airfield was Söllingen near Baden-Baden, where the Canadian Air Force was stationed.

The Canadians had their airbase there. Now this is a provincial airport with a lot of Ryanair.

As the former military airfield in Hunsrück is called Frankfurt-Hahn Airport, although the distance from Frankfurt to this airfield is far over 100 km.

Well, from Karlsruhe to the airfield Baden-Airport it is not quite 50 km.
