Does Instagram use AI to handle DMs independently?

I was recently chatting with a friend on Instagram, and she received a detail in one message that was different from how I sent it. She only noticed because I included a photo. To explain: I put up a new nameplate for my mailbox (last name only) and forgot a letter (K). In the message with the photo, I directly wrote that I forgot the K. However, the text arrived with a D instead of a K. My first name begins with D.

Because of the photo, my text confused her because she could immediately see that it wasn't about the D (abbreviation of first name) but that the K in the surname was missing.

After I explained the error via voicemail, the D she received changed into the K I sent.

The whole thing happened exclusively in her inbox. The DM I sent contained a K.

So the question is, does an AI on Instagram read or listen to the DMs?
