When the plastic ball is filled with air, it has a total mass of about…

With air, the total mass is about 5.2 % higher than with helium.
With helium, the total mass is about 4.9% lower than with air.

So first you need the volume. A ball of 30cm diameter has a volume of about 0.014m3. Air has a density of about 1.2kg/m3 (depending on the temperature) and helium of about 0.18kg/m3. As a result, you win around the 14g.

Yes, if you fill the ball with helium, it is lighter throughout than when you fill it with air or water. Helium has a lower density than air.

Air has about the 7 compartments density of helium, but I have just gogled ^ but with the data you can calculate.

The density of helium is about 15% of that of air. Say, when filling with helium, you save about 85% compared to filling with air.

But: Only in terms of filling! If you had 1 g of air in your ball and instead fill helium, you now have 0.15 g helium in there and have reduced the total weight of the ball by 0.85 g.

The volume of a ball with a diameter of 30 cm is about 14.1 liters. Then 16.9 g of air are introduced at normal pressure. And you can save 85% of this, i.e. 14.4 g. If this weight reduction is large enough to balance the weight of the outer shell, the ball lifts off. This is the case with a balloon.

However, if your ball shell is 300 g heavy, 14 g weight reduction does not help.

The helium does not affect the basic weight (300g)

The weight 300g refers to the plastic ball filled with air. A vacuum plastic ball would probably no longer be a ball.

The volume of your plastic ball corresponds to a rather small balloon. But as she weighs more than 2 tables of chocolate, the helium is not enough to let her fly.

The weight of the substances never changes.

The display of the scale decreases by about 15 grams.
