Does anyone know anything about installing WordPress?
Hello,
I want to create a website with WordPress. I've already secured a domain with Ionos. How do I install WordPress? All the YouTube videos are already out of date, so I can't follow the steps. For example, I can no longer access the App Center on Ionos.
Can someone help me with this? That would be so great. ☺️

You should think about IONOS again. They’re fucking expensive. There are many better and cheaper providers.
a vServer for 99 cents and then you can make the shot yourself : )
Yeah, for example. Where I would not recommend a vServer to enter ^^^
And what providers can you recommend?

I changed to them just a year ago. So far, everything works really well.
Enjoy your project 🙂
Super, thank you
Jap, that’s true:)
There are so many good instructions. Everyone starts with Linux and everyone can do it with his will
Go first http://wordpress.org/, right click GetWordPress and then download (the latest version).
And if you can read people from the future: simply search for the WordPress download. It’ll be somewhere.
Then you get a .zip file that you either unpack on your PC. If your web hosting provider can also unpack ZIP files online, this is also good.
Then all unpacked files are uploaded to the web server. You don’t have to put WordPress in a subdirectory – but it’s possible if you want it.
If all files are uploaded, you need to create a MySQL database before you go to the WordPress files. You can give the database any name.
If you don’t know about databases: You need to find the keyword “phpMyAdmin” somewhere in your web hosting. The database and table names should not contain special characters. Or at least not the wrong ones (I think I’m short). Some web hosting providers can also create databases without phpMyAdmin.
Somewhere in your web hosting you will then either have to define a username and password for this database – or also within phpMyAdmin. It’s not the same everywhere. That’s what we need.
Once this is done, you can call your WordPress installation in the browser (that means just your domain or directory). It starts directly from the installation assistant. Then you continue until the data are asked from the database. I told you to give the database a name, username and password. That’s what’s in there.
Since there’s “database host”, you can leave localhost in. I never had the case in 15 years that I had to change that.
You can also leave table prefix. If you have several WordPress installations running on the same database, you can change the entry. After installation, you can look into the database and see what it is.
If you (or other readers) install WordPress on a local system, usernames and password would be “root”. Not everywhere, but usually.
Then the actual installation is carried out and then asked for inputs that you will probably understand yourself.
Then it’s done and you can log in. The link to login (for later) is: http://www.deineDomain.xy/wp-admin (or wp-login goes well).
Have fun.
The most tricky is actually just dealing with the database. Newcomers usually don’t know. Since the many web hosting providers handle different things, I cannot provide a clear explanation.
Okay, crass… I’m gonna have to take time for that now 😆
I don’t understand, but I’m going to whistle…
Thank you
If you have a home server, then use a Docker container or if you have Proxmox, then use a Linux Contrainer. Here you would use a Turnkey template. https://www.turnkeylinux.org/
If you have a vServer or root server, use a Docker Contrainer here as well.
Containers are resource-saving, fast, packed and easy to manage when you know how. But everyone can after a 30 min YT video.
The question is, have you only booked a domain or a complete web hosting package? The pure domain hosting does not offer webspace.
So far I only booked a domain. I didn’t come with YouTube anymore, as the providers cleverly perform regular renewal and thus the YouTube instructions are no longer up to date. Even if it’s videos that are 3 months young…and for me as a total beginner it’s difficult to get a reasonable overview…. currently I’m even more confused than before 🤣🤣
You can upgrade your package. Look at Ionos in “Abos & Treaties” or something. You can change it.
If I book a complete webhosting in the aftertaste, is the purchase of the domain unnecessary? At least I can’t use my purchased domain in webhosting anymore because it’s practically forgiven now. Everything a little annoying…. menno 🤭
