Document not disappeared in the old folder after moving to a new folder?
Hello,
if I have an old folder (e.g. 2024) and a new one (e.g. 2025).
And if I drag and drop a PDF document from 2024 into the new folder (2025), it does NOT delete the document in 2024!
But it is not always like that, sometimes it is.
How can I make the document in the old folder disappear after moving it?
Thanks
You need to move the documents instead of copying (just because you push the file from A to B by mouse, it doesn’t mean that you’re missing it – in most cases you copy it only). Drag&Drop by left click “decides itself”, which of the two actions is carried out depending on where the source and destination folders are located and which file(s) it is. You can decide on the action yourself.
You have to move it, not copy it. Grab the file and drag it to the new folder, then press the “Ctrl” button in front of it. This switches between the two options.
Simply move with the right mouse button, then you can select the desired option. Windows otherwise decides what it thinks more appropriate; for example, copy ifs go to another drive or move when it comes to a subfolder.
You can do this…
… use. If files are not in the same drive, they are not deleted when dragging and dropping (my knowledge) but only copied.
