Do you need silence when writing?

Do you sit at your desk and work in absolute silence while writing? Do you have appropriate music playing? Can you watch TV while writing? Can you have a conversation?

For example, I can't stand silence; I always have to have music playing when I'm sitting at my desk. I used to write exclusively in front of the TV, but now I only do that occasionally.

Hey,

I usually create a playlist or, if one fits me, use an already created one. Music is very important to me as I can dive through it much easier into my story https://podunion.com/die-macht-der-musik-wie-sie-unser-gehirn-beinfluenced-und-creativitaet-foerdert/

Personally, I like to listen to sad music when I am sad, so if my protagonist is now passing through a not so beautiful phase of his life, I hear devastating music. Then I can feel much better.

If it’s not supposed to be anything for the entertainment of others, it’s just my own world of thought, often only my cat whispers beside me:)

I usually also have the TV in the background, but only very quiet so that I have a soundtrack. In absolute silence it sometimes goes, but I feel more comfortable with acoustics in the background. Of course, I’m not doing a new series that interests me. That would just distract me. There’s always the same stuff I know in and out.

I like to use music to get in the mood, but it usually distracts me too much when writing. With purely instrumental pieces, this sometimes goes, but if they are too “good”, it is not helpful again.

I can’t stop. I want to sink into writing in my world and not share politics by the way.

Sometimes I also make background noises like rain showers or thunderstorms when it is useful for the mood of the scene.

I actually have the TV (no, no joke). I’m a little “smelly” at this point: I can focus on my writing on the one hand and still get to the movie.
Total silence, on the other hand, is a gray for me, and music is okay, but with television is better for me.

Do I just as xD silence does not go at all, and music actually affects me too much in the mood

Depends on that.

When I create a completely new adventure, a campaign or even a new setting, I usually have corresponding playlists. If I’m just planning the next session, I don’t have a background noise. It’s not worth it – it’s going to be hard, because most of them are already standing.

It’s best to be quiet and nobody bothers me, then I’m more in flow, write at once more and print me better

If anything interrupts me, I don’t know any more

So I do my homework quiet music and quietly, writing books on the other hand, because I otherwise distract myself, sometimes I steal instrumental songs
