Do you have to scan the Deutschlandticket on the bus?

I've had the Deutschlandticket for two months now because I currently have to take the bus to the next town. Every time, I stand in front of the scanner with the bus driver, and it simply doesn't recognize the QR code. I always stand there like an idiot, waving my phone in all directions 20 times, and at some point, the bus driver groans in annoyance and waves me through without saying anything or checking.

Do I even have to scan the QR code, or can I just show the bus driver the ticket on my phone? How do you do that?

I never dared to ask one of the bus drivers because they were always so unfriendly and annoyed with me.

I politely tell the driver, "I have a Germany ticket," and hold the phone up to his face. Sometimes he looks at it, but most of the time he looks at me and says, "Okay," and lets me in.
I've never scanned the ticket myself 😊.

I mean, (most) systems can't even scan this code.

Whether you have to show it to the driver depends on whether you generally have to do this with tickets.

In some companies, the bus driver is not responsible for this at all.
