You don’t have to do anything first. A jump can and must be pressed in the terrain, depending on the further course of the stretch (when overriding from the knees, as far as possible, so that no jump or only a short jump takes place) or by repulsing (with the aim of jumping as far as possible.
Both techniques should be mastered. For jumps, you should be as busy as possible from the start, too slowly increases the risk of falling, for pushing away jumps you start slowly.
