Do we know all possible symmetries?
First question: Are there other symmetries besides axial symmetry, point symmetry, rotational symmetry, translational symmetry and scale symmetry?
Second question: Does anyone know of everyday examples of translational symmetry and scale symmetry?
When I read through the definitions, I can't really imagine what they mean.
From spectrum:
To have a flat object in front of itself, the scale symmetry besitzt, imagine a detail of an infinitely large picture showing a room on whose wall a picture hangs, in which the room itself is depicted by a factor. In this reduced room, of course, a copy of the image, which is reduced by the same factor and which shows a once-reduced room, in which … and so on, infinitely often hangs. If the picture taken as a cutout is as much continued into the infinitely large one obtains an overall scale-symmetrical structure.
Thank you.
