Do spikes help?
Are spikes useful for pedestrians on normal black ice?

Probably. They're made for that.
Yes, no. I spoke to a friend who often hikes in the mountains and he said that spikes aren't made for the little black ice we have here, or rather, it's not deep enough.. 😅
