Do I have to pay additional taxes as a working student?
Hello,
I worked as a student employee until June last year (only about 10 euros in paying taxes per month, according to my pay slip). Salary about 1200 euros
I've been working full time since July. Do I have to pay additional taxes for the time I worked as a student employee, since I paid so little tax back then?
No, quite the opposite. You're more likely to get something back because you earned less in the first few months than in the second half of the year. However, when calculating your tax from July onward, it was assumed that you had earned that much for 12 months, and then the result was divided by twelve.
Just file your tax return at the end of the year and you'll know.
I'm currently in the process of doing this. I calculated it with Taxfix, and they said I'd get about €300 back. I've now consulted a tax advisor, and she said I have to pay back the amount because I paid so little tax before. That doesn't make sense to me.
