Do I have to make room on the motorway if someone wants to drive on it?
Hello, whenever I drive this particular route (which I actually have to drive every day), I almost always have an accident. Just before the exit I have to take, there is a motorway slip road. This means that if I make way for the people who want to get on, I miss my exit and have to take a huge detour. (There is a maximum of 10m between the two exits.) The last two times, I was pushed into the left lane, once by a truck and the second time by a car (today), so hard that I had no choice but to move to the left. Today I almost had an accident because the left lane was full of cars. I'm actually a bit shocked because it happens all the time, but never as bad as today. I was totally panicked afterwards and could hardly drive properly. I go over the incident again and again and think that it's not okay at all to push people to the left. But I don't know how to deal with this situation.
No. Through traffic has the right of way, and anyone who is merging has a "Yield" sign. This should be familiar if you've ever attended driving school…
The fault clearly lies with the other person.
If you can't go left, you can't go left. That's it.
If someone is unable to look over their shoulder and doesn't see that you are next to them when they pull to the left, you can honk your horn as a warning.
And if an accident is imminent, you still have the option of slamming on the brakes to prevent the accident.
But generally speaking: You know that those merging onto the highway will accelerate. And you know that you yourself have to slow down anyway because you're about to take the exit. Regardless of who has right of way, it can be quite sensible to brake in anticipation and stay behind those merging vehicles that you can no longer blast past with momentum.
Anyone merging onto the motorway must pay attention to the oncoming traffic. If someone in front of you wants to merge onto the motorway and you want to exit shortly afterward, simply signal right, slow down, and move behind the person merging. You don't need to change lanes to make way for them.
If you're in the right lane and driving behind a truck, keep a distance of about 50 meters (preferably 100 meters). The approaching traffic has the opportunity to merge in between. If you want to overtake the truck yourself, you still have enough space to accelerate to 90-100 km/h (56-62 mph). Overtake quickly: at least 120 km/h (75 mph) should be sufficient. If you overtake in the middle lane at 100 km/h (62 mph), it will take forever. So it's best to keep accelerating.
Announce your intention to overtake in good time. Give traffic on your left a chance to react. Some people signal, thinking this allows them to simply change lanes. You can also use your turn signal more than three times.
Always keep an eye on the traffic behind you. Is there a chance that the median lane might move to the far left, or is someone coming from the far left?
In principle, yes, even if you have the right of way. And if the lane change can be carried out without obstructing those behind. But in this situation, it's different. The rule of thumb is: mutual consideration.
You don't have to.
But the easiest way to do this is to simply thread yourself.
If someone is coming from behind faster, slow down a bit and get in behind them.
Especially when you want to get down, it's pointless to insist on your place at all costs.
I can't imagine a situation like that. Where is that supposed to be, the entrance and the exit 10 meters behind it? Describe it in more detail, including the motorway and the exit number. I'd like to see it on the map.
A lot of things happen in traffic that aren't right. Complaining won't help; you just have to get through it!
To the question: You don't have to make room. Anyone who wants to get on the slopes has to find a gap and wait if necessary.
do you mean like this:
then simply signal right, drive a little slower beforehand and that's it
Something like this: the entry and exit lanes aren't connected. So sometimes you drive side by side, and when the lane ends, they just pull over to the left.
And why do you stubbornly maintain your speed instead of driving with foresight and slowing down in good time so that the accelerating vehicle can merge in front of you?
take a picture and upload it, don't know what you mean
