Do experienced software developers really believe that what IT journals predict (concerning AI-based software development) could be correct?

Consider the 10 statements in: https://www.computerwoche.de/a/wie-genai-entwicklerkarrieren-umkrempelt,3698390

Can editors of such journals – without ever having developed software themselves – even assess something like this sufficiently well?

I am a software developer and can say from experience that programming takes about 20% of my working time.

Most of them are discussions with customers, specification (panel booklet), documentation, quality assurance documents (the TÜV controls this regularly) and a very large proportion is also the test of the software.

And someone must finally take responsibility. I’d like to know how the AI can handle this.

…too many people (Incl. various “Fachjournalists”) have a false idea of what the current AIs actually do to get their results.

“What’s your own design” isn’t part of it – more likely to blur “before”. 😉

No one can appreciate the future. Not experienced developers.

But of course, AI tools are used massively, this is no question.and if the tools become much better, there will be some types of jobs less. There will be new jobs for this. As always with new technologies

Yes, they can. In 2024 still studying computer science is meaningless. The Big Tech Groups leave massive people in the IT sector. Computer science becomes the new BWL course with massive unemployed.

You are counting companies on the biggest employers in the WORLD, of course they say something about the labour market!

Let’s get you in touch, or you’ll make yourself even more ridiculous.

Only Amazon is one of the largest employers in the world. And not because of the IT field.

All the others are not even in Top 50. Even Edeka has more employees.
Alphabet (Google) has 182,000 employees. This is about half so much as 50 of the largest employers.

This part of your lack of knowledge is clarified.
What exactly do Google, Microsoft and other major companies say USA because exactly about the labour market in Germany out?
I’m excited!

I know what the big IT companies say about AI themselves. You should have looked up that instead of interpreting any mischief from any dismissals.
They all say the same -> AI will become a powerful tool that computer scientists will work with.

But hey, if you can’t even inform yourself about it properly, you’re in the field of computer science in no case in the place. ;

You seem a lot to imagine.

For example, Microsoft, Apple, Google and Amazon are representative for the general labour market or educational structures.
Especially outside the USA.
