Display without light?

About a year or two ago, I saw a video where someone at a trade fair presented a display that, unusually, didn't require any light. It was essentially a color that reacts to electrons and is therefore extremely energy-efficient. Unfortunately, I can't find the video anymore. This technology was presented there in the form of application examples of a watch, for example, and it was blue. Unlike e-book screens, it works without flickering. Does anyone know what this technology is called or even have a link to the video?

E-Ink displays as used in e-book readers do not need their own light and only need electricity to change the display. They do not need energy for permanent display, and they do not flicker.

Unfortunately, they are slowly in the image structure.

Just gogled. Looks interesting. Apparently they are far away from real displays, but for certain applications it is conceivable. Especially the robustness is exciting.
