Discord Paypal scam?
I want to make it clear in advance that I know that the following has to be a scam, I just want to know exactly what advantages the scammer could have from the whole thing.
Someone messaged me on Discord saying they wanted to transfer $3,000 to me, via PayPal, for example. Now the question is, what risks would be involved if I just tested it out for fun and gave them the opportunity to transfer the alleged $3,000? The scammer also wants to profit from the whole thing. Is it just that they know my PayPal name, or are there other things I can't think of right now?

Yes, the well-known scam is running like this:
You’ll get a real looking (but fake) message from Paypal that $3000 was transferred to you.
But before you can access the money, you need to transfer $50 to verify that you really are.
If you’re gonna get in there and pay $50, the scams are gonna laugh dead.
That’s it.
