Disable graphics card?
The Nvidia graphics card on my old laptop is defective (creating artifacts), so I wanted to run everything on the integrated graphics unit of the Intel processor. However, games, for example, still run on the Nvidia graphics card, and there's nothing I can do in the BIOS… Is it safe to disable the card via the device manager, or is that even possible?
Artifacts:
Device Manager:
Yes, in principle you can disable the graphics card by right-clicking on the entry. (Deactivate device)
The entry is then marked with a small downward arrow.
By clicking on it again, the card can be activated again (Enable device)

Couldn’t take much of the post now… As described in the article, my integrated graphics unit has already selected as a preferred graphics card in the nvidia system control, but some application continues to run on my nvidia card…. For applications like Chrome there are e.g. no problems because this completely exercise my integrated graphics unit runs
The opinions are divided here – once the statement that this is controlled by Windows, the other by Nvidia control.
Maybe my second read article.
From the second article, I just conclude that this is not so easy if the cards really work so closely together…
Think shutdown will not be the problem, more likely the disadvantages, for example, in RAM. The graphics card has its own memory, the iGPU uses your memory, i.e. less power.
Thank you so much for taking the time to find out the two posts! Be sure to disable them because the artifacts make them quite unusable… Have a nice evening.
