This happens surprisingly by the team leader and the team.

Apparently not when everyone knows.

No one expects a big speech or something like that. Taking some muffins or a cake is usually a good thing in the office for your birthday.

But it happens and that doesn’t make it surprising somewhere. You can take a few muffins on ‘Year’ of your specific attitude. Or thank you for a cake.

I find it something strange that is not known which day of the anniversary is and that is not communicated on which day someone comes.

However, I find tram tram every 5 years odd. I know this from the 20th or 25th AWU all 5-10.

If you want to be prepared to put some bags of schoki (mars snickers…) or rubber bears mini bags in your closet, then you can put them on the table when they come. That stuff lasts for days. Generally, however, I wouldn’t see a commitment with you if you can’t know when the tram stops.

I wouldn’t prepare a speech. Experience has shown that most of them are totally boring.

You’ve been expecting a long speech to be broadcast on TV. Also, you should appear on the day with suit and tie on work

You don’t have to do anything. But you could store durable cakes in the time in question

You’re not taking anything. He’s jubilating you

You can offer coffee and cake. Something about champagne would be too stiff and formal, and alcohol, no matter how little, is a bad idea if colleagues then want to continue working highly concentrated. A speech would be exaggerated, which is considered to be at most retired at the final farewell.

By the way, as long as you are not an official with an authority, but an employee in a company, this is not a service jubilee, but a work jubileee.

If the event is “surprising”, you don’t need a great preparation. Take part, say nicely “danke” (depending on talent and motivation also a few words in addition) – and that was it then. “More” is neither necessary nor is it expected. (At my last celebration (at the 25th) my boss, his boss and someone from the works council were there, I got a certificate, then we drank a cup of coffee together and there was unavoidable knock – and after not even half an hour the event was over again.)

But if the event takes place so a little “announced”, then (can, not have to) a little more effort can be made. Some jubiliars bring cakes for this occasion or take care of sandwiches or the like. This varies from company to company. If everyone is celebrated every 5 years with you, then you’ve got the one or the other celebration already – just arrange a little bit, then you’re not wrong. In case of doubt, a colleague in a comparable position asked you how this is common with you.
