When we were at school, a teacher forcibly dragged students out of class for drinking completely harmlessly during class. Unfortunately, no one believed us, which is why there are no consequences for such outbursts of power.
Better than whips like in the last century, but still far from good.
By the way, it was a normal classroom, not a chemistry lab where food and drink could be hazardous to health and a ban is understandable.
