DHL package missing?

I sent a package to a friend in a nearby town. However, the package hasn't arrived after more than 2.5 weeks. As part of their investigation, DHL is asking for receipts. However, I did send him back his clothes, which are already very old. What should I do now? I had a strange feeling at the time. I packed the clothes well in a sturdy shoebox and put them in a packing station. The postman should have printed out the receipt and stuck it on. However, it only says "Your package has been removed from the station" and the status hasn't changed since. Since it has more of an emotional value, it's very annoying, but since the package is actually insured up to 500 euros, what do you do without proof/documents?

You could give a written statement to log or take insurance to oaths.

Honestly, I’ve already finished taking a cash deposit from something else and made profit from the package loss.

It costs DHL to pay you less than to investigate where your package is.
(Similar to Amazon returns are usually cheaper in extermination than they would waste as a B-good where they would waste for little profit storage)

Fortunately, however, this was the only bad experience with any shipping company at all. ^^
