A branch is still managed by people and there you can usually buy stamps etc. In order to receive a package at the packing station, you must first register under https://www.dhl.de/de/privatecustomers/package receptions/an-einem-abholort-receptions/packstation/packstation-registration.html. But since you didn’t know what a packing station is, I think you’re not registered.

To send the package to the branch, the addressing must look as follows:

The post number is optional. You can find the number of the post office here.

If you are sent directly to a packing station, you would have to be fully year-round, registered with DHL, verified for the packing station by postident (age, address), waiting for a letter with QR code, and thus unlock the post app.

The packing stations are the yellow boxes, which are increasingly close to supermarkets or gas stations. You can only send packages (without prior registration) or send them (after complete registration, as described).

The branch is also increasingly located in supermarkets. There you can buy stamps, post and DHL shipments, pack sets buy more.

If your dealer sends DHL, then directly to the branch. Pick up your ID.

Other services are offered in a branch, but can also be used as a pick-up point. Pickup then only at the mentioned opening hours.
