DHL customs directly at the front door?
The day before yesterday my package arrived from Canada and the postman wanted about 115 euros in cash for customs fees. I then asked him if he had an invoice for me after I paid and he said no. I said I could pay it later. The courier said yes 🤷🏽♂️ and then just walked away with my package without any information. Since then the DHL tracking information has said "package could not be delivered", where is the package and where can I pay for the shipment and simply pick it up?? A quick note: the service provider was international DHL express shipping.

This is normal to pay import duty when ordered from abroad.
If you want to avoid this, buy at online shops that have a shipping warehouse in Germany. This is also much better for the German economy!
However, you can also pay for this in the post office, but it can be that the postman has now logged your mail as “rejected” and is therefore either sent back to the sender (probably in the case of internal shipments) or destroyed directly.
If you have a consignment number, you can inform the DHL about the whereabouts of the shipment.
