Device hangs very badly (Ubuntu 24.04)?
Hi!
I have a laptop here: Acer Aspire ES1-512-C1N2 (Hardware: CPU: Intel Celeron N2940; 4 GB DDR3L RAM; 500 GB HDD…)
But even the Ubuntu 24.04 desktop lags heavily in its animations. The mouse pointer tends to jerk when moving. This gets annoying over time. Maximizing and minimizing windows also doesn't work smoothly.
What can you do?
I wouldn’t use GNOME as a surface with the bacons. It’s like Xfce. Can you reinstall under Ubuntu via
Or install a Debian to me xfce. Then you don’t have the Snap Kram… 🙈 They also rob RAM and power.

Ten years old low-end CPU.
The Franke would now politely call it “aweng weng”.
also does not accelerate straight.
Before you put money in an outdated system without any sense: look around a new notebook – possibly also a used device. Core i5 from 7. Generation gets you for cheap money.
This is my PC project. I like to bastle something like this, I’ve put myself the challenge myself, I’ve been waiting more on answering with some cool bastel tweaks, where someone writes, for example, if you’re doing this and that configuring it could be better. If you understand what I’m saying, so the system keeps “doing” the Ubuntu better running, which doesn’t run like on a top device, it’s clear. But the project is stopped running on the device as well as possible.
A Celeron N2940 was already a lame CPU ten years ago, even then operating systems that were significantly slimmer were running on such systems not properly liquid.
Why do you think that weak and outdated hardware should be a current Ubuntu liquid?
Here you are in the wrong forum!
There are Linux forums.
A windows xp could be liquid, sounds funny, but it’s so. You just have to break down
For the first time there are no experts, but this is another topic.
I didn’t say there were none.
I want to tell you. that it is more likely to respond more qualitatively in a Linux forum, especially for “tuning” as you call it.
There are also linux experts here.
