DeutschlandTicket Sozial what do I have to show?
Hello my love,
I have a question. I receive citizen's allowance, but I'm not proud of it.
I have a daughter who has to go to therapy every week and has to spend 14 euros each week for bus travel. I calculated that the Germany ticket is socially cheaper than if I had to spend 14 euros four times.
My question is, what do I need to show? Am I only entitled to the citizen's allowance I receive monthly, or do I have to submit a separate application to the job center?
Hello!
If you receive citizen's income, you can also get a reduced-price ticket. If you receive citizen's income, you will receive a notice.
Depending on the city, the application process for the ticket may vary.
On website A, you complete the D-Ticket subscription and add the proof (eg citizen's allowance notice) during the ordering process.
On website B, if you belong to social group xyz, you may be required to enter a specific PASS number or code in advance. This will then digitally verify your eligibility to apply.
This may vary depending on the federal state, city, and provider's website. You'll have to find out for yourself. The websites of the railway, local public transport companies, and the city differ from state to state. Even if authorities, companies, etc., differ, the basic principle of the application process is always the same. However, this should be clearly stated on the website/office where you apply.
Depending on the state and city, children may or may not be included. This would have to be verified first.
In short: For website X, it's sufficient to attach the citizen's income tax notice (copy/PDF). For website ABC, this can also be done conveniently via an online contact form or by email (PDF).
In municipality/city x, this is only possible in conjunction with a social security ID card/pass. You apply for this at the responsible authority, submit your citizen's allowance notice (PDF, on-site, etc.), and then receive an ID card and number. Within city xyz, you can then receive various discounts by entering your ID card number, including ticket purchases and subscriptions.
Since I don't know your city or the public transport company, I can't comment further. However, the principle is identical and should be clearly stated by various providers!
The discount for recipients of citizen's allowance is NOT available nationwide, meaning it is not available with every transport company/association. Just as children rarely don't need their own. And it's not a matter of the federal state, as is often mentioned here. No. The VRR, which has been mentioned several times here, is the Rhine-Ruhr Transport Association. It's relatively large, so it appears twice here.
To find out who is responsible for you, ie which association/transport company, look at your daughter's ticket and then find out on the website.
However
€14 sounds like she's taking a regional bus for hours. There should be another way. I'd look into it, but I'd need to know which network you live in.
A discounted Germany Ticket isn't available in every federal state. Furthermore, the discounted ticket is personal.
The discounted ticket is available in Hesse, for example. You need the Hessenpass mobil, which is sent with every citizen's allowance approval notice. The ticket then costs €31.00 for one year.
Hi,
There's no shame in it and it's great that something like this exists when you really need it!
To get the ticket, you need proof of eligibility, which you can get from the relevant authority, in this case, the Jobcenter. This allows you to obtain the ticket from the relevant transport association.
Here, for example, is the information from VRR: https://www.vrr.de/de/tickets-tarife/deutschlandticket-social/
Unfortunately, I was told that the Jobcenter is not responsible.
Hmm – and the job center doesn't know who's responsible either? The social welfare office? The VRR says:
You must apply for the ticket from the relevant transport company.
The citizen's allowance notice serves as proof of need.
