Do you think it's unnecessary to go to the doctor again?
I have extremely irregular periods and other PCOS symptoms, such as excessive, somewhat masculine hair growth and impure skin. And the menstrual irregularities, for example, are also quite severe.
So I went to a gynecologist, and when I said, "My period is pretty irregular and I've noticed that other PCOS symptoms apply to me, too," she didn't ask any more about which symptoms or what exactly "irregular" meant. I think she just assumed it was a slight irregularity (a few days late or so), and it's a bit more extreme. I think she overlooked/forgot about the other symptoms. She then said that if it bothered me, I could at most take the pill if I wanted to. And during the ultrasound, she just said it wasn't PCOS because it seemed to be unremarkable (although the internet also says that it's not noticeable in all women with PCOS), and that was the end of it, and the source of my symptoms didn't matter. The appointment had become available at relatively short notice. I actually had a later appointment with a different doctor. Since I thought a second opinion might be useful, I skipped it for now. I thought that in the meantime, or now at the end, was unnecessary, and I wanted it anyway. I was actually going to cancel, but everyone at work knew I had an appointment, so I kept it anyway and am currently sitting in the waiting room. One thing I should probably add is that the doctor was really nice the other day, but there were a few other things that were a bit odd, though nothing too serious (I was treated like a child as someone over 20, some of which could be considered over the top).
First of all, I actually wanted to cancel today's appointment because it's really antisocial to miss two doctor's appointments in quick succession for something so unnecessary. And if I were asked why I went to see a gynecologist in December and again today, I wouldn't really know what to say. And in general, I haven't had sex yet at over 20 and I'm kind of afraid that she'll comment negatively on that. And I don't know if I really want another examination or something. If you're still a woman, it's even more uncomfortable and another ultrasound would be somewhat unnecessary. And what if she asks me why I'm going to the gynecologist again? I wouldn't know what to say. And afterwards I noticed that her current reviews are pretty crap. Earlier ones were really enthusiastic, but the current ones are pretty negative. That kind of scares me too. And it's actually really unnecessary for me to be here, and if someone at work asked me what kind of doctor's appointment I have, I wouldn't know what to say. Especially going to the gynecologist during work hours for something so unnecessary and non-urgent.
I don't really have a question, but I would be interested in your opinion
