The urge to buy things?
Hey everyone, I often have the urge to buy things, be it ordering something online or going to the store to buy a packet of chips, a ready-made salad or a bottle of water. I usually buy things even though I don't actually need them. This usually happens very impulsively, I notice this a lot when I shop online – I just order it, then I wait until it arrives and when it arrives I think to myself, why did I even order it, I don't need it. Of course I look forward to ordering and most of the time I find a use for it or enjoy what I ordered for a while. But I always think to myself that it didn't have to be that way.
Is there an explanation for this? Is there anything I can do about it?
When you go shopping yourself: pack everything in the car and run around in the store for as long as it gets too stupid and this “will” feeling goes away. And if you’re in there for two hours. Never mind. In the end, you should remember how most of your shopping is no longer interested. And you focus on what is really important.
If you buy online: Add to cart and wait 2 days. Take a look and delete again, which no longer feels so good.
Purchasing is always something to activate our lucky center. But what makes you happy today doesn’t have to do this tomorrow. Also actively think about how much money you spend on things you don’t need “actually”. Or how much of what you’ve ever bought in such a “wahn” was never really used.
But at least you have to pretend you’re buying something to distract you. The feeling of happiness does not come when paying, but when “packing in the car” – which car is. I’m serious. Get in the car what you want to buy. But don’t buy.
Stop
That’s what most people do. One wants to enjoy something, activate the reward center and finally the advertisement also does its work and excites us all day with colorful pictures (probably) great offers and so great things that we absolutely need.
Where a bottle of water is still within the frame 😁 with which you can even start something.
