Defective hard drive?

I removed the hard drive from our old PC and connected it to my PC via SATA using a SATA cable directly to the motherboard. Now I have the problem that my PC recognizes it (shows the drive in Explorer) but it cannot be found in the disk management. When I click on the drive in Explorer, my computer freezes and over time a black screen appears until I remove the device.

Can anything still be saved or does anyone have a tip for me how I can still access my data?

(Already tried Chkdsk+ /f)

(Hard drive is a Western Digital 160GB)

If the drive does not appear in the disk management, it cannot be displayed in the Explorer. It is possible that a non-initialized storage medium appears in the data carrier administration, which you have only not assigned to the hard disk.
