Dead by Daylight not working anymore?

Hello, I bought the game dbd about a month ago. It worked, but it kept stuttering. So I refreshed my laptop (Acer Aspire E17). After re-downloading Steam and dbd, I tried to launch the game normally. Then I got this message: "Launch Error: Game client encountered an application error." I uninstalled and reinstalled the game several times. Steam did the same. I also did a few Windows 8 updates, thinking that might be the cause. And I checked the game for errors, but nothing worked. I couldn't find a solution online either. I hope you can help me, because it worked before. Thanks in advance.
