Flash DBAN from Linux computer to USB?
Hello, I want to flash DBAN onto a USB stick for hard drive wiping for work, so I can then clean the drives on an external computer. However, I have a Linux computer, which makes the process quite difficult.
I've already tried flashing a DBAN USB stick on a Windows computer using Rufus, and it worked perfectly. However, as soon as I flash the USB stick over Linux using unetbootin, the computer tells me "Error 1962: No operating system found."
I've already tried different boot settings in the BIOS, different USB sticks, formatted the sticks to different file systems, etc. but none of that helped me.
Maybe one of you has another solution.
Did Balena Etcher try?
Yes, was actually the first thing I tried
Try the simple version with dd:
using the USB drive letter for X!
If I have also tried out, unfortunately it does not work:/ Is there any error in 1962
Question: You created the stick on Windows. Why does it have to be created again under Linux?
… if so, maybe the answer from this thread will help you:

I’ve tried all this now, unfortunately, didn’t work…
I’m supposed to create a “guide” for work on how to use DBAN, so that others can do it. I can also show how to flash DBAN on a USB stick, but since most computers are running over Linux, my colleagues will not do that if it only works on Windows. I’ll see the thread, thank you.
