DB Reise abbrechen und zurückfahren?
Bei der Deutschen Bahn ist heute der Wurm drin.
Erst einmal musste ich – wegen der Stellwerksstörung in Dortmund – einen anderen Zug nehmen, da der ursprüngliche ausgefallen ist. Bin damit schon mal über 60 min später in Nürnberg.
In Nürnberg sollte es nun mit einem RE an mein Ziel gehen, der fährt jetzt wegen einer Streckensperrung nicht mehr weiter.
Meine Reise ist dadurch sinnlos geworden und ich möchte die Reise abbrechen und zurück nach Frankfurt fahren.
Das Geld dafür kann ich mir erstatten lassen, klar.
Aber mit welcher Fahrkarte fahre ich zurück, und wie mache ich das dem Zugbegleiter klar?
(Habe für die Rückfahrt eine Fahrkarte mit Zugbindung; die Rückfahrt wäre allerdings erst morgen gewesen.)

The return journey is just so free, because you assume that everyone needs a return trip when it drives a destination. And just because you’re late, you don’t have to give up all the travel plans. I’ve been late for 10 hours in Seattle, USA. I didn’t break the trip back then. But when flying, there was 1,200 EUR as compensation for 2 people. That’s not what the DB does. You have to carry the return journey yourself. And if more than 2 hours late there is 50% on the train.
But allowed it. And get all the money back. It’s like 1:1 in passenger rights.

I did not ask if you can reimburse the money (because you can), but if I need a new ticket for the early return.

You can cancel the trip and reclaim the fare. I would, however, in any case contact the DB service and let me certify it.
How do I get back to Frankfurt?
You have to make sure you didn’t drive the last section. You’ll get the price back. I don’t know if you need a new ticket for the changed return, but I guess.
If the route is locked, a bus often drives as a replacement. I just think if you can’t keep paying the train or they pay a taxi to the destination. Ask the suburbs at the station.
You must buy a valid ticket for the return journey and place it on “the invoice”.
