Can you choose?

I might have to go into a shared living arrangement. We're also going to the youth welfare office for an appointment soon. But can I at least have some say in the decision, at 14, about which shared living arrangement I go into? Be it by the sea or the mountains or something like that, or at least decide where it's not so strict, or at least decide where the rooms are nice, because I don't really want to go into a shared living arrangement if it's not by the mountains or the sea, or if the rooms are ugly, and definitely not if it's so strict, like 1-3 hours on my cell phone.

And what would you recommend? I often experience stress at school and at home, and I'm aggressive and disrespectful. Should I get help there or what? I can't stand the stress at home sometimes either.

Mountains? Lake? You’re not going on vacation. And rules will exist everywhere. Room nice? It is in the eye of the viewer, but you can make it beautiful with personal objects.

And even if you can talk about it – as long as you can talk about it. Because such a home is a chance to make things out of his life. Your parents don’t seem to really get it.

During your appointment, the social worker will first present you the possible aid measures and then a help plan will be created for you.

The following aid measures are available to the Youth Office:

  • There is the possibility of social group work (e.g. anti-aggression training)
  • an educator who comes to you into the family
  • Full-time care by a strange family (care family)
  • Care for the majority of the day in a day group (can be imagined as a child’s hort)
  • home education (living groups, children’s home etc.)

As you can see, home-education is only at the end and is only considered if all other measures have failed or there is danger for body and life.

I hope it’s not that far.

To answer your questions:

Can you choose this?

The decision in which housing a child/younger comes depends on many different factors.

If you have friends and visit the school regularly, you will try to accommodate yourself in a regional group so that you can keep in touch with your social circle.

If you have problematic friends or are there dangers for life and body, then you will be taken away very far.

In the end, however, the decision lies with the social workers and the free places.

Room ugly

There are beautiful and less beautiful houses/apartments and if there is a room free, you will have to take this room.

-3 hours phone

1-2 hour media time is the standard in most facilities. This depends on the age and behaviour of young people.

And what would you recommend?

I would recommend that you accept assistance from the Youth Office and be completely open and honest. They don’t want anything bad for you.

Good luck.

A group of people is not a holiday. You will not be asked if you prefer to go to the mountains or to the sea.

You’ll come where a place is free and you’ll fit in.

Probably not, because this has to pay municipal carriers, and that’s why it’s always in your region. You will also see that you can stay at the same school.

If there are several possibilities in your region, you can be lucky that you can choose something.

I kind of feel like you’re confusing a WG with a wellness hotel…

I can tell you from personal experience: No, you can’t usually choose which WG you come into. You will be assigned a place in a WG in which randomly just a place is free. It’s not that all the WGs are half empty, there’s a lot of rush.

There are rules in every WG. However, with your behavior there you have a very great influence on how strict these rules will be for you. If you take care of yourself and fit the services in the school, you can have a very nice and relaxed life in a WG. If not, they can make your life a hell.

These residential areas are very rare and also VERY TEUER. You can be happy if there’s any room for you. There’s not much to choose from.
