Daihatsu Cuore L501 31kW/5300 year 97 petrol, looking for engine control unit?
The battery was connected with the wrong polarity for about 3 seconds. Now it's likely that the engine control unit or wiring harness has suffered a blow: as well as the fuses and relays in the fuse box in the engine compartment. After checking, all the fuses and relays look really good, the filament/fusible link would have been badly damaged otherwise. It will be replaced, though. And now the question: Am I even on the right track? There isn't that much electrics on the car, the lights and hazard lights work. It just won't start for the life of me. Is there a way to bridge the engine at the control unit?
It's incredibly difficult for me to get the parts, even though I live in Cologne. I can't get anything in Düsseldorf either. And I'm a bit hesitant about simply ordering second-hand stock on a whim, without someone checking it out on site. Maybe you still have something, or you're throwing up your hands because it's a waste of time.

Die Wahrscheinlichkeit, das es den ECU “geschwellt” hat, ist beim falschen Überbrücken recht gross. Ohne das Steuergerät spritzt er nicht ein, er ist nicht zum Laufen zu bringen.
Geprüft ist es recht schnell. Bau es aus, schraube den Deckel ab und rieche daran. Wenn es leicht verbrannt riecht, ist er hinüber. Eventuell siehst Du auch die verbrannte (braune) Stelle.
Vor kurzer Zeit habe ich meinen Cuore mit 250000 km, allerdings voll funktionsfähig, für 60 Franken (ca. 55 Euro) in den Export verkauft. Die Abgaslampe hat geleuchtet und der Termin für die Fahrzeugkontrolle war fällig. Er wurde in Italien zerlegt und dann als Ersatzteillager nach Afrika verschifft.
Neuteile wirst Du kaum noch gekommen. Schaue doch mal bei einem Daihatsu Club oder in Kleininseraten, vielleicht macht ein Besitzer ein “Schlachtfest” und verkauft die Teile einzeln.
Zurzeit haben wir in unserer Familie einen Cuore L276, einen Materia 1.5, einen YRV Turbo und einen Copen 660ccm.
Bessere Kleinwagen hat wohl sonst niemand gebaut.
