CPU cores disabled after BIOS update?
Hello,
I have the AsRock Steel Legend B650 Wifi and today I updated my motherboard to UEFI version 3.16. After closer inspection, I noticed that XMP is disabled for the RAM and only 6/12 processors are active. I have a Ryzen 9 9900x.
I tried to select the 12 cores via msconfig under Advanced, but only 6 are displayed.
Normally after a BIOS update. The BIOS is returned to the original state (you don’t know if the old settings are running with the new version)
Probably you have only 6 cores with 12 threads. Zb the 9600x would be such a candidate.
Keep your fingers off.
See if it really is a 9900x

Hello, I found the mistake. If you activate the “Gaming Mode” with the Ryzen Master, the cores are screwed down from 12 to 6. As it is called gaming mode is questionable. Got all the cores again
PS: the Ryzen 9 9000x has 12 cores 🙂 I also had 12 cores before the BIOS update!
And yes, I built that ja boxed myself!
There is no ryzen 9 9000x. There is a ryzen 9 9900x – and yes it actually has 12 cores.
So much for that.
Well, that explains…
Probably improves the single core performance. The more important in gaming than the number of cores. But it’s only a presumption on my part. Had no ryzen 9xxx in the hands.
All right.
Well, the main thing you have is the mistake.
At your point, however, I would uninstall ryzen master and then reset the BIOS again. This usually makes more crap than it helps.
Oh, yeah, the 9900x, sorry.
