Copy files to external hard drive?

Hello first

I recently bought the Crucial portable SSD X9 because I finally want to have all my pictures, videos, and a few 3D models on an external hard drive.

Of course, I don't want to remove them from my computer, but rather copy them onto it. However, Crucial's "manual" is completely incomprehensible, at least to me, since I've never done anything like this myself before. It just says to go to the website, but I can't find my way around there at all, nor do I know what I'm actually looking for.

I've often heard that people use a program for this. What would be a good program to do something like this, and how exactly does it work?
And couldn't you theoretically just copy entire folders etc. in Explorer and then paste them into the external hard drive?

Actually, you only have to connect the hard drive to the PC (if necessary also connect power to the hard drive) and turn on the hard drive if the one has a switch.

Then the device software of the hard disk should be automatically installed on the PC when used for the first time. Partially it is also without this installation.

After that, you should find an entry for the hard drive in the file manager and copy files wherever you go.

As long as you do not copy complete servers but only private files, no extra software or command is actually necessary. Even if you just take normally Explorer for it. Mark, copy and paste all files once on the external panel, the rest happens by itself. A software from manufacturers is usually unnecessary.

Just let a mistake happen, then it stops in the middle of the night, if you were asleep.

And you’re annoyed in the morning…

It’s clear to me that it’s not enough files for a normal user. I would see Explorer with the low risk as safer than an inexperienced user with Robocopy or any software. A wrong setting and the data are not only not copied, but completely gone.

But you have to be stupid, where everything is described so well.

But good, do what you want, with many, many files, the normal Explorer is nix…

On Windows, files are automatically copied to external hard drives, unless you press a button while overriding.

I use the Total Commander because he goes on, even if there was an error – but it also goes by copy / paste..

At the latest, it becomes clear that you are “old”.

At the office we call him the Altherren-Commander.

Hehehe… Yes 1973 is not young…

Rather “pathy” because older people are not called “old”…

Okay, then I’m happy to be old…

To quote one of my instructors: “experience does not really mean what. Just because someone does something wrong for 40 years, it won’t be right.”

I believe from the Asian space comes the address: “Old man” and there it is an honorary title. I personally don’t think “old” is bad. Alt means in the best case that you have already experienced a lot and everything has survived. Notwithstanding my entry, “old” means at least that one has experience (in ideal cases) but does not necessarily have experience 🙂

But old is not automatically wise;-)
