Connect the brown cable to C on the new switch?

I bought a new switch. Unfortunately, I don't know if I need to connect the brown wire to C? Because the blue neutral wire goes to N. If anyone happens to be an electrician who could give me an answer, that would be great. Thanks.

A note in advance: If you can't answer the question yourself, I would assume that you are not a qualified electrician and therefore you are not allowed to connect the switch yourself.

On the manufacturer's website…

https://www.meross.com/en-gc/smart-switch/smart-wifi-light-switch/37

… you can find the corresponding instructions…

Or there is also a corresponding picture directly on the product page:

  • The outer conductor (probably brown in your case, but could also be black or gray), which supplies the voltage, goes to the C terminal.
  • The neutral wire (blue) goes to the N terminal.
  • Depending on the switch position, L1 and L2 are connected to C. You can then connect the wires to the lamp or other switches, etc., in the circuit.

Here are the instructions:

Unfortunately, it's not well made. It looks as if the phase belongs to C, and from there it switches either to L₁ or L₂. So you can think of it like a normal (illuminated) two-way switch.

Neutral to N, phase to C and the lamp to L₁

That depends on your wiring. This is a switch that works with Wi-Fi. For that, you first need a zero. You don't always find that in switch boxes. It's on the side. Then you have L1 and L2. L1 has a constant voltage, while L2 is the switched voltage for the lamp.

Correction. C is the connection to the phase. L1 and L2 are for a changeover circuit or L1 to the lamp.

To mihisu's answer.

Whether it looks like that for you is the second question. Presumably, even the blue one isn't an N.

Please send a photo of the switch box with the cables.
