College England?
Hi,
I would like to do an exchange to Great Britain for two terms next year.
I did a little Googling and found out that you can go to college at 16.
As far as I understand, you study there?! Can I still go to college if I'm in 11th grade and not actually studying yet?
Or what type of school should I go to?
Best regards, Charlotte760
“College” means anything in British English. It can be a school that prepares for A levels or also offers a vocational training (“sixth-form college”, “tertiary college”). It can also be part of a traditional university, but you don’t get in there without school graduation.
You’ll have to look exactly what’s meant in your case.
So if college is a “sixth-form-college”, could I go there?
Do you know what it means when college is a sixth grade college?
I just saw that the text I read was translated from English. So a sixth grade college is also a “sixth-form-college”?!
It sounds like a bumpy translation, yes.
