Claw pulled out? No more digging?
My dog's favorite thing is digging to find mice. She injured her claw so badly that it had to be pulled out… very painful, and the healing process is long. Of course, at first, it's called "leash." But what happens after that? As soon as I let her off the leash, she'll start digging again. However, I don't want her to go through that process again. How can I get her to stop training?
You can start quite simple, eg in a quiet fenced place, without option to budding, let the bitch run like in the house. Then you can start to lead the female past mice holes with leash and show no interest if she wants to sniff and/or buddle.
You might also falsify practicing holes to show that it is not so great. I don't know how their relationship with and without leash changes, but I would say that if you can get over to several holes with loose leash, then you start without leash from the new one. That the female sees the holes but can't go, but then that it can't do that you might call them and have them past several distractions etc.
Generally was supposed to be doing this quite well.
