Check engine light after 100,000km?

Good morning.

I just drove a long distance and my car exceeded the 100,000km mark. At about 100,200km, the engine light came on.

I didn't notice any problems, neither with performance nor any noise.

Since I've often heard that the MKL comes on after 100,000 km, I wanted to ask what that could be.

(Vehicle: Ford Focus mk2, 2009)

The MIL does not go out after a restart, no error code was displayed in the on-board computer.

If in Germany the stork population and at the same time the birth rate has risen, this does not mean that there is a connection between the two.

In plain text: the illumination of the MKL could have occurred just as at 79853 or 101165 Km and there are various possible causes: exhaust gas recirculation valve contaminated, air mass meter defective, engine pulls through a crack in the intake bridge or an air hose false air, camshaft or crankshaft sensor spins, lambdasonde delivers implausible values, toothed belt or control chain tension too low, conceals control chain. Control chain tensioner is too low, injection nozzle worn, oil pressure too low etc.

It doesn’t have the least to do with any brand.

The error can have all possible causes if the behavior of the vehicle has not changed noticeably, a problem could be present in the air mass meter, in a lambda probe, in the camshaft sensor, crankshaft sensor, injection nozzles and etc. Only accurate errors are displayed in the combiinstrument. There are also errors that only cause a short error, but then have to be deleted in the OBD.

In any case, to the person skilled in the art, read out, delete and wait for the error to appear again.

Should not be pushed onto the long bench, errors in the mixture preparation quickly ruin the catalyst

let the error memory read out. how do you want to know without a reading device whether the board computer has registered one or no fault?

the MKL is a warning function, unlike the usual service displays, which can be easily deactivated depending on the km

Read out the error memory in the workshop and test the control unit. Then you can keep looking. Ggf is the control unit hops.

Not excluded, but only low probability it lies on the control unit itself.

The MKL has nothing to do with the mileage. When the thing lights, there is definitely a fault in the engine control unit.

Read out the error memory.
