Changing stables – what do I need to consider?
Hey you!
I'll be changing stables on September 1st. I'm moving from a small private open-plan stable community to a large boarding stable. Since I've never been in a boarding stable before, I don't want to do anything wrong, but I also don't know a lot of things yet.
General question: How do I deal with the farrier? Do I have to officially register with them? Or do I just call and make an appointment? Otherwise, a fellow stable worker always does it for me.
And are there any other important things I should definitely keep in mind? The new stable owner has already told me a lot, but of course I don't want to arrive there completely ignorant 🙂
Thanks in advance!
If I were an Adjuster, I would never go where I can’t go forging, TA, Osteo, Sattler, Dentist, Trainer,… my choice. My own adjusters have completely free hand in this regard. This, however, only as a marginal note.
In large stalls is often a lot of operation, note the rules that apply there, stick to the stables, don’t move in the way (either by car, nor by horse), leave plaster/washing place clean, use hall/place only according to the rules that apply there: for example, in some stalls the place in rain is locked and released again after it is dried. It must not always be longed everywhere, there are specific rules on teaching, etc.
A must is knowing the rules of the railway!
If you go out riding, follow the usual rules, e.g. the benefits of riding trails if there are, of course, not across Feldein or Forestry, etc. This is of course anyway or should it be – in every stable.
Otherwise polite, friendly, neutral. I for my part never participated in the usual stables, but took care of my horse and good. But everyone has to know that.
A stable without a free choice of service providers would never come into question for me, because I know two good Huforthopäden and a whole lot of hoof workers from a wide variety of training directions, which would not come to my horse. Just as with veterinarians and more so I would like to have my service providers. I’d just ask if there’s a plan to stop the service providers with Corona right now. For example, if you have a Friday at 10.00 appointment with your sattler and then not 15 others can arrange an appointment Friday at 10.00, but you can see that there is already one.
Otherwise, just push where you can graze, that you don’t suddenly eat the lawn and let holes in it, clean cleaning places during riding, picking up crap on paths and closing doors that the wind could grab, even if the other slut in the stable might not do. It’s time to read that you don’t just sit up when you’re supposed to be locked… there’s usually a riding and operating order for this, otherwise you can’t remember everything.
Well, completely free from rules, your past stable was certainly not. You clarified the basic conditions before the conclusion of the contract, didn’t you? So I mean which service is included and what you have to do yourself (zb misten).
Everything else is clearing. Where to park or where to clean. Abeppeln after riding and figs at Putzplatz understands itself. That’s what every stable has.
The Hufschmied depends on whether your old wrought also comes into the new stable. You should explain that now. And then you’ll just make an appointment yourself if your horse’s ready again. The best one/two weeks before. If you need a new forging, it may be useful to ask in the new stable what forgings have there. You can also vote with them so that the forge can make several horses in one slip. It also depends on the time.
To get a blacksmith in my area is like a 6 in the lottery. All booked. You can only hope that once a horse is sold or dies and thereby a place becomes free 🙁 but you can run better. Start looking soon enough!
It’s like we’ve been with hoofsmiths. Hardly one takes more new customers who are not good anyway.
Hey,
but you can ask me something forge and TA.
It’s not bad you ask. It’s better than not knowing and doing what’s wrong. Questions cost nothing 😉☺️.
Often the large valleys also have a TA or hoofsmith that can be used. LG😊
With regard to Hufschmied, I would just ask the other people who will come to the court for a while, who is recommended. Then you can just call there and ask if your horse can join the next appointment.
Otherwise, you have probably agreed the most necessary rules with the stable owner. The rest yields with time itself. Just be friendly to all, then you will surely find quick connection and support of others.
