Change employer, job interview etc. (complicated)?

It's a bit tricky, but it'll be a decent text, sorry about that 😀

So, last year I applied for two jobs as a childcare worker.

One would have been my dream job in terms of location, concept, layout, etc.

The other was a fill-in position (you work for the organization within several facilities, always wherever the need is). It's not that great, but the employer is unbeatable in terms of benefits and pay.

Now the first place had to stop offering the position because their employer terminated their position at short notice. However, we agreed that they would contact me directly if a position became available.

So I accepted the second position and have been working there since the end of December. I've worked in three of the provider's facilities during that time, and it was actually quite okay, except you don't really get anywhere; the work with the children is very superficial because you're not part of the permanent staff of the respective group, etc.

I also got sick a lot during that time. When a substitute is needed, it's usually the staff member who's sick, which usually means there's something going on in the facility, which ultimately means the substitute gets sick too, and that's really annoying.

However, as I said, the employer pays incredibly well, which means I'm getting more for a part-time position than I did in my previous full-time position.

So much for the backstory.

Today, the first position contacted me again to say they have an opening again, and I'd be happy to schedule an interview with them. And the complete plot twist: the employer of my current position will be taking over the sponsorship of the first position starting at the end of this year. This means that the specialist responsible for my current employer's daycare centers, who was also present at my interview, will also be present at the interview for the new position. It's a totally awkward situation.

So I would have to take time off from my current employer for an interview at the end of the year for a position that will be funded by the same organization as my current position.

It's clear to me that I want the new job, especially because in the long run the benefits and pay of my current employer will be combined with the working conditions, concept, etc. of the new job once the two have merged.

The notice period is still quite short since I'm still in my probationary period, so a spontaneous change wouldn't be a problem.

But I'm wondering how I should address this at my current job :'D I feel a bit stupid about it… does anyone have any idea how I should handle this?

I would go to the boss at your place and say that as a jumper you are not really happy and like to be stuck in the group again. You have seen the job advertisement and would like to do it.. it is handled like an internal change without interview. They already know you… or she’ll make you another proposal you can accept or reject.
