Change Apple ID email?
Hello,
I'm getting married soon and would like to update my Apple ID email address to reflect my new last name. I've already looked online and found out that this is actually possible. But now I'm wondering what will happen to all the online shops/websites/online funds where I registered with my "old" Apple ID? Will this change automatically, or do I have to change everything manually, and what's the best way to go about this?
Thanks in advance 🙂
Hello honeybeex,
you have to differentiate a little.
On the one hand, there is the Apple ID. This is an Apple account to use the countless Apple services. To log in to this account, you need the email address and password specified during registration.
This email address can be easily changed.
However, this address (I call the now simply apfel@icloud.com) is deposited with countless shops. If you now create a new address (e.g. Birne@icloud.com) then you can use burne@icloud.com as a login address at icloud, but all online shops do not know your new email address.
I would proceed like folgr: Create new email address, forward old email address to new address, change login address at icloud to new address.
Now you will continue to receive messages for your old email address and can gradually change to your new address. So once you see that an email has been sent to apfel@icloud.com, you log in to the online shop and change the contact email address on birne@icloud.com in the customer data.
Thanks for the 🌟
Ben
Usually an Apple ID is created by specifying an email address you already have. That’s not more than an Apple account.
If you now make a new mail address with your new name and the Apple ID to this mail address, there is no change in other providers (shops, websites, etc.) when you are registered with the previous mail address. Of course, you also have to put the new address there (if you did not use “Login with Apple”).
If you have chosen “Login with Apple” or a similar function, then the other provider will not normally store the correct mail address from you, but a fake email. Mails to this fake email are then forwarded by Apple to you (as far as I know…). This fake email is linked to your Apple ID and the mails should always go to the Apple ID mail address.
Of course, it is recommended to keep the previous email address first until all have the new mail address. The previous email address can also be stored as an “additional email address” to the Apple ID.
If you change your Apple ID email address, this change will be transferred to all services and devices connected to your Apple ID. This means that you must register with the new e-mail address for all online shops, websites and online funds that use your Apple ID. It is therefore advisable to note and keep all important passwords and security issues before the e-mail address is changed and to keep them ready if you need them to access your accounts.
You should also ensure that you forward all important emails sent to your old email address so that you can access important information even after changing the email address. If you change the email address, all emails sent to the old address will be automatically forwarded to the new address. However, you should make sure that the forwarding is properly set up to ensure that you do not miss important emails.
It is also recommended to inform all online shops, websites and online funds where you registered with your Apple ID about the change of your email address so that you can update your new email address in their records. In this way, you can ensure that you continue to receive all important notifications and emails from these services.
You should change a new email address on each platform individually – they have nothing to do with Apple and your mail address and are not informed about changes.
Sometimes you or the changes must also allow by confirmation email – which becomes interesting if your old address is no longer valid
Yeah, that’s what I thought, so I’ll just leave the email as it is.
